 Operation Love – Project Linus

arlyce and linda discussing the project

February 12th, was a day of sewing, crocheting and knitting by a combined group of 47 members and Solera residents. Together they completed 43 blankets, and several others were in various stages of completion. We could not have done it without the help of the residents who attended.

Operation Love was spearheaded and coordinated by Linda Legreid, who did an excellent job, thus making this project a success. From the purchasing of supplies to the preparation of sewing kits, she made sure that every minute detail was taken care of before the big day.

Sew What Quilters members provided the food, which included soups, breads and desserts.

On the 3rd and 4th Monday of the month, we worked to finish the incomplete items left over from Operation Love, and also start new ones.

As of March 14 2007, we had donated 755 blankets to the Project Linus Foundation; of these 200 were made during 2006 by 25 members and residents.

“Operation Love” produced 67 blankets, bringing our total for 2007 to 97.
